Google to close Orkut

Waseem Saddique Marketing Services in Birmingham reveals Google’s decision to close its Social Media Service Orkut.

Search engine giant Google has said that success in other areas of its business has made Orkut’s existence ‘irrelevant’.

Paulo Golgher, Google’s engineering director has announced that the Social Media service will close on 30th September as the company focuses on its more popular and profitable business areas such-as Google+ and YouTube.

Users now have three months to export any data from Orkut’s profiles and no further profiles can be created.

A Social Media specialist from Waseem Saddique Marketing Services in Birmingham has said “Orkut was one of Google’s first attempts to enter the Social Media industry and although it proved popular in many countries including Brazil, its failure to generate global interest has led to its closure.”
